Orvieto is a mere 30 km away and offers a lovely historic center, an impressive cathedral and underground city. Many other great cities and sites are within easy reach like Assisi, Perugia, Monte Falco and Bevagna, Spoleto, and Lake Bolsena and Trasimeno.
