The independent and exclusive entrance on the ground floor is filtered through a characteristic Venetian internal courtyard, which guarantees privacy and practicality. In the courtyard there is also access to a small exclusive warehouse.
The Distribution of Spaces
Inside, the property offers a large living area with lounge and dining room, both with parquet floors that return a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The kitchen is habitable. The master bedroom is bright and spacious, with high-quality finishes. The studio, also with parquet floors, offers a quiet space to work or relax. The bathroom is elegant and well finished, equipped with all modern comforts. A small terrace on the floor offers an interesting outdoor space in continuity with the house, while a storage room on the ground floor offers additional storage space.
The area
The location of the apartment is extraordinary: located in a central but quiet area, it allows you to maintain an excellent level of privacy and at the same time observe the historical and architectural treasures of Venice at a short distance, such as the Basilica of Saints John and Paul, St. Mark's Square, the Rialto Bridge, the Church of the Holy Apostles and the splendid Church of Miracles, an architectural masterpiece of the fifteenth century.
History
The origins of the building probably date back to the 1400s and are mentioned in the map of De' Barbari in 1500. It belonged to the Tron family in 1661, then passed to the family of the Counts Donà Dalle Rose in the nineteenth century through marriage, and in 1934 it was purchased by the family that currently owns it.
During the seventeenth century, the building was rented to Baron Leopoldo Tassis for the management of the mail of Flanders, while he resided in the building opposite, the Palazzo Morosini dal Giardin. The latter belonged to the Valmarana family.
In the nineteenth century, the area underwent important urban changes, including the burial of the Rio del Barba Frutariol on which the current terrace of the building is located. It is probable that during this period the portico with the columns and the well was walled up, now an integral part of the building. This well, together with a column, are located partially outside and partially inside the entrance of the house, and both are subject to monumental constraints.
The wellhead with the Contarini coat of arms is of Gothic style and dates back to the end of the fourteenth century. She is mentioned in the main publications on art history, history of Venice and on the Vere da Pozzo.
