Property summary
Palazzotto dell'Orologio is a Palazzotto for sale in Carovigno (Br) from the early nineteenth century, in the historic center, stands on the hill from which it dominates the city and dominates with the suggestive vision of an all-round panorama. Symbol of the elegance of the upper middle class who lived there, it was built by an ancestor of the current owner, who started this housing project on the highest point of the hill, to enjoy the most beautiful perspective.
The complex is spread over three floors (from the entrance floor to the panoramic terrace overlooking the sea), on a volume of 540 square meters.
The stone steps at the entrance lead to a living room with a balcony that separates the sleeping area from the living area. The first room on the right is used as a Kitchen overlooking the main square.
Also from the living room there is access to a hallway which leads to a first terrace. Here you will also find the stairs to reach the citrus grove in the private garden.
The private garden (ancient orchard) of about 200 meters, fenced and protected by high walls, is a green oasis in the historic center. The same, with its dimensions, allows the construction of a swimming pool and an external lift, as can be seen from the photographic conversion of a two-dimensional elaboration of the garden.
Continuing to the first floor you enter the large living room with the two bedrooms (the first with access to a small balcony) the second with a large panoramic terrace.
The complex is also equipped with a water tank of about 30 square meters, at the time the house's water resource, with an opening onto the street and an opening inside the house. On the north side, from the balcony adorned with a wrought iron railing, original of the time, characterized by arabesque designs with a central rose window and created by skilled craftsmen on a project desired by an ancestor of the current owner, one is projected into the vision of the medieval village of the fourteenth century. The city walls, built by the feudal lord Prince Raimondo del Balzo Orsini and marked by a square-plan tower and an arch (Porta Brindisi) which supports the drawbridge to defend the city, is made even more suggestive in its night vision from the windows and from the balcony of the house.
From the same balcony you can also enjoy the performance of the flag-wavers of the various districts - the so-called "Nzegna" ceremony. Carovigno, in fact, is called "the city of Nzegna", due to the skill of the flag-wavers, recognized among the best in Italy, who perform with a multicolored flag in acrobatic displays, as witnesses of a more ancient tradition of the game of the flag. With the religious rites and the parade of traditional costumes, in the summer, during the most important festivities of the local tradition, you can admire the fireworks displays from the terraces of the house.
To the east, from the terrace overlooking the garden, one can enjoy the vision of the sun rising over the surface of the sea. To the south, from the rear terraces there is a panoramic view of the expanses of ancient olive trees, up to the city of Brindisi with its port, covering a distance of about 25 kilometers
.
The building, with its potential and the position that makes it unique, a few steps from the Dentice di Frasso Castle, with its spectacular panorama and the vision of the sun rising over the blue Adriatic Sea, lends itself to a high-end tourist destination level.
Carovigno itself, rich in history, a few kilometers from the sea, looks like a fairytale village that lets itself be discovered slowly, with long flat beaches, with fine sand and shallow waters and particularly suggestive corners such as the oasis of Torre Guaceto, nature reserve and protected marine area.
When entering this house, the first impression is its volume which, with the light, are the ingredients that create the atmosphere. It is a residence to be revived, with its ancient beauty that it still manages to show and the touch of elegance that those who have lived there over time have been able to give.
An evocative place, full of immense natural light that surrounds the rooms, with fireplaces created by the ancient owners, to savor the best of Apulian cuisine, made up of simple but tasty recipes.
Some furnishings of the early twentieth century, in full Art Nouveau style, forming part of the wedding trousseau of an ancestor, have gone through time and the vicissitudes of the first and second world wars. Reviving them means paying homage to a glorious past and to those who came before it.
For these reasons, those who discover Puglia for the first time let themselves be carried away by all the wonders that this land offers, yet to be explored.
